4 stalls of moving shrapnel and the big trailer is 1/2 full still with the little one full and at least 1 more big trailer’s worth in the temporary house.
We’re carpet cleaning and what not inside but slowly sorting stuff onto shelves that stays in the garage, taking things to the basement etc. It’s a long process as anyone who has moved knows.

Shelves are for stuff you regularly need. If you don't regularly need it...then into the dumpster/recycling it should go. Shelving is expensive...

Sounds like you are following the standard procedure. Wife and I tossed a lot of books that were just sting in boxes. Old textbooks and whatnot, nothing rare. We kept some yearbooks, even those I am thinking of scanning to reduce our stuff as I think we want to move again, maybe even move somewhere, enjoy it for a couple months, and move on down the line. I need to secure a remote job first.

be careful. unpacking into a house makes all your things expand.

Moving sucks.
You never realize just how much shit you have until you try to put all of your shit in one truck.

My wife has a thing for books. We probably have 10 Rubbermaid totes of old textbooks, reference books and novels in the crawl space. Why do humans have a thing for not wanting to get rid of books?

The trench drain running down the middle of the floor is a cool feature. I wonder why the original builders designed it like that?

I had asperations of working though calculus again. I don’t think I remember anything about it as I have no need to apply that type of math in my day to day.

It is on the plans like that, yes. I’m looking forward to having somewhere for the snow melt to go, that’s for sure!

Yup. Five years later my garage & basement is still filled with crap from the last house. What I need is a carefully controlled fire to get rid of all of it. But since my wife is not generally supportive of this I have to make dump trips every weekend.

I see lots of empty space in there. No problem :)

We had boxes that went unopened for years after our last move. I should have just taken then to Goodwill, unopened. Whatever was in there was obviously not missed.
